Update 3/2/06 - Griffin Farming is no more
Griffin farming outside augury rock is no more available.
Here is a screen for you all.
Here is the official news from Guildwars.com
"Kepkhet Marrowfeast, Queen of the Scarabs, has brought her brood to the desert, drawn by the plentiful corpses of griffon, minotaur, and even other scarabs. The insect brood now infests the "Prophets Path," so travelers be warned!"
You have been informed.

good luck with that. they were specially designed to keep farmers out of there. virulence, well of the profane, plague touch, traps and the like.
the boss is also a monk boss with mark of protection...pretty damn annoying to kill her.

It's not that hard actually. I got a rare flatbow. Wasn't max damage, but I think that was just a rarity. 13^50, 5:1 vamp
It's still doable, just outside Drok's might be better.

Solo? Is it still easy? Are you talking about normal W/Mo griffon farming here?

Yeah. I use my normal build. Mind you I haven't attempted to take on the big group in the center, but the groups of 2-3 I can take on no problem. Same build as always.
There are a lot less griffons sadly. I'll try taking out the big center group next. Maybe replace Deadly Riposte with some anti condition or distracting blow...

may it rest in peace... Least till the next BS build of the month the farmers exploit to ruin the game for everyone else by OVER farming and getting greedy... 70% of the farmers don't use what they find. they inflate the market by reselling it for ridiculous prices to the ignorant general public.
The best thing Anet could do is remove the trade button all together... and make every dropped item customized to the account finding it. So drops either has to be salvaged or used by one of the finders characters or sold to a NPC merchant. PERIOD... I know this will never happen, but god would it fix so many social problems in the game....

if they really keep nerfing they should give out all the weapons for free..
+ they didnt nerf uw.. though THAT is the spot to get the MONEY and get the ECTOS to get rich! griffon farming is not really the spot to get rich..
well i think im gonna stop playing pve now anyway.. people get greedy if they cant farm anymore.. and there is actually not really a gameplay with greedy people..
|
No one stated that UW was nerfed. But with the Griffons gone and UW a big target for SHEEP then its on the to hit list obviously. They clearly wont get rid of UW like they did the Griffons because there is a wider band of people using it. However I do think that they will add more Enchantment removale to get the SHEEP'S worryed.
I do agree. In the near future if things keep going the way they are with people over farming certain area's one by one they will be nerfed in there own way. So eventually farming will altogether be useless. And like you said, expensive weapons like Crystaline swords will be out of the question.
We will see how things go but this doesnt look like a to far off mark that we will sooner or later hit.

well actually they shouldnt have nerfed griffons, buw uw..
in uw u can get like 10 in 10mins.. (well i did runs with 55n/mo there and that for 2h and i had 12 ectos and some gold from other crap.. i didnt sell them but gave them away for free (to my friends) because i had no use of them (worth: 7k each) well reason i hadnt had any use of them? yes there is.. i did griffon runs aswell to get items for my chars (as they had actually been the best spot to get ITEMS [not money])
griffons are like 10k in 30min at MAXIMUM, if you are LUCKY.. so they should have nerfed solo uw and NOT griffons -.-

They nerfed griffon's to put an end to bot farming. I do not think that Anet has a problem with farmers as individuals. They do however frown down on sweat shop owners in foreign countries that have people farming griffon's like mad for their own profit from ebay. I am one farmer that supports this "nerf". It will help smart farmers challenge themselves and add a little flavor to the game while possibly making a dent in the bot/sweat farming.
Well one can hope it makes a dent.

Yes but like I said. It isnt just the SHEEP that are using UW for the heavy farming. There are still W/Mo's shouting "LFG" for UW. So, the everyday people looking for a group to try something are still using it.
However, when you go to Augury. There wasnt anyone looking for a group to go kill the Griffons. There where the 3 Warriors out of every 10 SHEEP that went to kill them sure but there wasnt a big variety so it wouldnt upset the whole range of players. As it stands it is only effecting the SHEEP players because they are the only ones now stuck. Us Warriors can farm many other spots if needed.
Sure, Griffons farming may not have gotten a SINGLE player rich very fast. But, there where a HELL of ALOT of SHEEP running in and out every 5 mins all making around 10k in 30 mins like you stated. So, althogether these SHEEP where bringing in ALOT of money to the game. Not as a SINGLE person but ALTOGETHER they where brining in loads.

Yes, I am also very happy with this "nerf". It has upset alot of the SHEEP players which I personally hate And, as you said have made alot of sweat shop owners unhappy :P

well so you are PRO-Nerfing uw?
There are so many more uw runners (even if they make party of twos) that get a LOT more money in the game..

well you are right.. i didnt know there are bots out there and thats really i mean REALLY stupid.. but without people getting annoyed by nerfing and thinking "OMG its impossible to farm for me little noob with so less good items and no possibility to get better ones" there wouldnt be anyone buying items from shops and than those shops wouldnt be able to sell anything and than they wouldnt use bots..

Well I highly dought that UW is "Botable". Look at the map. And the variety of things you have to do. In Griffon farming its a pretty straight forward run and the skill variation doesnt change much either. But in UW it would be next to impossible to "Bot" that much stuff.
Think of all the different spawns that can happen in UW. Griffon spawns wasnt that hard to map. The map was very spacious and so the peson mapping the "Bot" didnt have to do much. In UW, there are many different routes and turns and narrow hall ways, wide open rooms.
And most SHEEP going with another SHEEP to do this. So you would have to have two SHEEP botted to know exactly what you are going to do... Its just physically impossible when you think about it...
Troll farming outside Droks is very "Bottable". Its pretty much the same as Griffon farming when you think of the basics. Not far to run, skill variation isnt much, and you can solo it.
We will see what the SHEEP move onto next
